ITANAGAR, Jul 10: A day after the sports director gave a clarification on the recent press statement of bodybuilder Paklu Taipodia and Cosplay artist Junnu Pinggam over financial assistance, Pinggam today Monday claimed that she was misinterpreted during the press conference.
Clarifying her stand, Junnu, who is also the founding member of Arunachal Cosplay Club (ACC), said that the very objective of the press conference was to promote the Cosplay in the state and nothing else.
“Since I and my friend were going to represent the state in particular and country in general in an international level event, we wanted to promote the Cosplay through media,” Junnu said, adding that there was no plan to appeal to the government for financial support.
However, she clarified that when she was asked by media person whether they were getting any financial support from the state government she supposedly told that until now they have been managing everything by themselves without any sponsorship.
Regarding sanctioning of Rs 75,000 each to Junnu and Gichik for participation in the Japan Cosplay event as stated by the department, Junnu said that till now they have not received the amount.
Junnu and her mate Gichik Charchang have been selected to represent India at the upcoming World Cosplay Summit 2017 at Nagoya, Japan in August next. The event is organized in Nagoya every year since 2003 and this year, around 32 countries are participating in the mega event.
The duo is leaving for Japan on July 25 next.
